UK puts £40m into eight robotics adoption hubs
Farming, waste, surgery, drones and delivery robots, with one hub dedicated to robots in public spaces.
The UK government announced on 9 October a £40m network of eight Robotics Adoption Hubs, to help businesses and public services put robots to work.
The hubs named so far
- HARVEST, Lincoln: farming and food production.
- Milton Keynes (RoboPass Plus): robots in public and shared spaces, including delivery robots, drones and self-driving vehicles.
- Greater South West, £9.8m, led by Bristol Robotics Laboratory: manufacturing and maritime among others.
- NORAH, led by Kingston University: waste and recycling.
A further £1.7m funds AURA, a national body to coordinate the hubs.
